Our story

Matt and Gerry may have different skills, but they’ve always learned, worked and played side by side.

The story begins at Kings College School Wimbledon, where they met, back in the late 90s. Matt had become a member of Mensa and could be found representing England at chess, and on a slightly larger playing field, Gerry representing England at table tennis.

At King’s College London University, Matt studied Neuroscience and Human Biology while Gerry studied Pharmacology with Management but they also developed a happy knack for music production - a few years later holding the number one spot on Radio 1Xtra’s top 40 charts with the track ‘Who’s this’ from Dec 2002 to Jan 2003.

Turning the volume up on their careers, the first steps on the recruitment path were taken when Matt landed a role at Badenoch & Clark, and Gerry a job at Venn Group. Quickly learning the ropes, they joined forces while at European Staffing Solutions to set up the Finance and Compliance Division from scratch.

Keeping up the momentum, 2006 saw them create GA Global Consulting. In an auspicious start, they garnered the Who's Who Young Director’s of the Year Award in 2008 for business growth over £1 million within the first year of operation.

A roll call of achievements followed:

• Appointed management of end-to-end consultancy services for the delivery of the complete SOX internal controls programs for four FTSE 100 organisations from inception to business-as-usual across EMEA and US locations

• Forging, developing and managing business relationships with FTSE 100, 250 and NYSE– delivering contingency and retained recruitment services to over 100 such organisations. This led to the placement and embedding of new internal audit, risk and compliance & ethics individuals, teams and on occasion, entirely new functions

• Pioneering a wholly consultative service - offering advice to both clients and candidates on salary levels, training and career progression; reviewing recruitment policies to ensure effectiveness of selection

• Developing a proprietary recruitment and training program centred around empowering their consultants

• Devising the concept of a values-led recruitment strategy based on analysis of past placements. The findings illustrated a positive correlation between long-term staff retention and the alignment of personal and company values

• Ensuring that the shared values of integrity, performance and quality are at the centre of every goal and initiative

• Awarded Best Audit Recruitment Company in the UK for three consecutive years by CV Magazine 2014, 2015 and 2016

It’s been a valuable journey so far, and with the launch of values–led recruitment in the form of auricoe, the best of Gerry and Matt’s experience is yet to unfold.

It’s fair to say that from smaller beginnings, with the right chemistry, great things can happen.
